Hidden Files

By default Windows hides certain files from being seen with Windows Explorer or My Computer. This is done to protect these files, which are usually system files, from accidentally being modified or deleted by the user. Unfortunately viruses, spy ware, and hijackers often hide there files in this way making it hard to find them and then delete them.

Simple Tips to Reduce Air Conditioning Running Costs

An incorrectly used hvac air conditioning system can be costly to run especially in a home environment. Most people don't realize that a large portion of your homes energy bill is made up from your air conditioning system. Below are 5 tips to help you cut the costs of running your air conditioning unit.

1) Set A Comfortable Temperature - Don't set the temperature to the extremes or the air conditioner will never cycle off and this will cost you money. Try selecting a comfortable room temperature to save on running costs.

2) Have Refrigerant Levels Tested - A refrigeration mechanic or contractor can test your system to determine if you have a refrigerant leak. If your system appears to be either cooling or heating less than normal, it is a good sign that you may have a gas leak.

3) Seal Off Any Droughts - Droughts and gusts of wind can really cool down your home when your trying to warm it up in winter. Drought stoppers and sealing cracks can reduce these droughts which will keep the warmth in and reduce your heating bills substantially.

4) Learn How To Use Your System - If you are not entirely sure how to use your air conditioning system, you are probably using it wrong. Speak with an air conditioning contractor for some good advice on how to run your air conditioner.

5) Clean Filters & Ducts -Finally, give your ducts and filters a quick clean. It is the simplest thing to do to get your hvac system to run better again.

Stick to these 5 tips and you will be sure to save money off your next power bill.

Are Free Software Downloads Always Safe

Who among us doesn’t love free stuff? But when it comes to free software, however, you might want to watch out. A free program you download over the Internet could contain harmful code that could do all kinds of damage to your computer or mobile device. It could mess up other software, take control of your computer, or compromise your personal data and expose you to possible identity theft.

Free software -- known as "freeware" -- is growing in popularity for computers and mobile devices because it can be easily accessed over the Internet. But there is another side to getting software for free. The old saying that "you get what you pay for" may apply to freeware.

Here’s what you need to know about freeware, the risks and how to keep your computer and its data secure:

Q. What is freeware?

A. To put it simply, freeware is free software that you install on your computer -- knowingly or not. For example, freeware can be a free game you install on your computer or a free program that helps you track expenses or even weight loss. Freeware can be delivered to you in a few ways, including on a CD or downloaded from a web site. And these days some freeware goes by another name: widget.

But what about security? Well, some freeware is safe and some isn’t. It often depends on the source. Freeware lacks some of the standard features that we have come to expect in software -- tech support, bug fixes, downloadable patches, and virus definitions, among them. Tech-savvy users might be able to understand and weigh the risks of using freeware, but more novice users might not want to expose themselves to potential hazards to their computer, their files and their personal information.

Q. Where can I find freeware?

A. Here are a few common providers of free software:

•Well-known companies: The same companies that you buy software from often also offer freeware. Sometimes the freebie comes in the form of a trial subscription so you can give a product a test drive before buying. Other times, the freebie can be used for as long as you want it, but the company is often motivated by trying to sell you product upgrades or other software -- and they may pester you. Popular freeware includes Adobe's Acrobat Reader, Apple's QuickTime and web browsers. Free software available from well-known companies is generally safe, says Jeff Godlis, spokesperson for i-SAFE, an Internet safety education organisation. "You have to agree to a licensing agreement to use those," he says. "They are reputable companies."

•Shareware makers: Many smaller software developers allow you to use software for free on a trial basis, which is known as shareware. “Commonly, shareware developers ask that you contribute something after you use it for a while -- like $15 -- but you don't usually have to," says Russell Dean Vines, chief security advisor for the Gotham Technology Group, a New York consulting firm. They also may try to sell you upgrades or other software. To verify whether a shareware maker is legitimate, you can try to see if their name is listed on the web site of a reputable organisation, such as the Association of Software Professionals, a trade organisation for software developers. But for non-tech-savvy folks, it may still be better to pay for a brand name you know.

•Widget and open-source developers: There are sites all over the web offering free widgets and so-called open source programs (meaning the techies among us can modify the software) such as games, music applications, accounting or office programs. But the security of these programs tends to be harder to verify.

Q. What are the risks of freeware?

A. You need to be cautious about which free programs you download because that freeware program can end up costing you a bundle. Here’s why: some of these no-cost applications also have spyware or adware or other malicious code -- such as viruses, worms or so-called Trojan horses -- embedded inside. So sometimes when you download some freeware onto your computer via the Internet, malware can also sneak onto your machine. One result could be the destruction of your important files. Another risk of freeware is that your computer could be attacked by botnets, which are malicious programs that take control of your computer so thieves can steal your identity.

There are also free programs that claim they protect your computer, files and information from online threats. But beware, experts say. "It is risky to use freeware for security software," Vines says. He recommends researching the company and their products before downloading, but even then it may be safer to pay for security protection and go with one of the more established security software programs. "Unfortunately, some bad guys try to masquerade as good guys," says Vines.

Q. How can I protect myself from risky freeware?

A. Here are steps to take before you download freeware:

1.Do your homework. Before even thinking about downloading freeware, research it a bit. For example, you can Google the name of the freeware or you can read about it on message boards. "Oftentimes if there is a piece of malicious software out there, different postings in different places will tell you whether this is malware," says Tim Lordan, executive director of the Internet Education Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to educating the public about Internet issues. You can also read freeware reviews from commercial sites that test the software, such as CNET or ZDNet.

2.Look for a seal of approval. Only download from well-known vendors that participate in verification programs that confirm software is legitimate. For example, TRUSTe is one such organisation that provides vendors with a seal of approval logo after a due diligence process has been completed. Look for the TRUSTe logo to confirm a site is safe.

3.Keep security programs up-to-date. It's essential to have anti-virus and anti-spyware software running on your computer before you download anything, Lordan says. But take a further step and make sure that those programs -- along with your computer’s operating system, such as Windows or Mac -- and web browser are updated. Also make sure you download and install all security patches. "A lot of this malicious software exploits older versions of your software. If there is a hole in your software, it's important to keep it patched," Lordan says.

4.Be wary of social network freeware. A growing number of social networks, such as MySpace and Facebook, also offer free applications you can use while on those sites or by downloading them to your computer. For example, Facebook has a widget that lets you check your account from your desktop (allowing you to get alerts when a friend request arrives). But there are still questions about the safety of social network freeware applications because they can’t always be verified and most of the social networks disavow themselves of responsibility.

At the end of the day, trust your gut and the old adage: There is no such thing as free lunch. So check out what the motive is behind why the freeware you want is free to begin with. Does the creator want to ultimately sell you something? Are they testing the software for bugs or did they make it for fun? Or is the freeware simply a guise to trick you into opening your computer up to a virus or spyware?

Take the steps above before you download, advises Lordan. "Protect yourself by having tools on your computer in case you do inadvertently download something suspicious.”

Ways For Efficient Web Searching

The internet is not your library and if you thought a ton of books was an overwhelming amount of information, think again.

The internet doesn’t contain just a few dozen or hundred relevant sources, no, it contains millions or billions or even more. To make things worse, there is no friendly and intelligent librarian to help you sort through all this information. It’s only you and a stupid search engine. You better act smart.

The challenge when searching online is to find only relevant information or – in other words – avoid irrelevant results on Google search. In this article I will show you 6 ways to reduce these false hits, so that you get better overall search results.

Surprisingly, the most effective way to reduce irrelevant results on Google search, may be not to use Google’s search engine in the first place. Read on to understand why.

1. Use Multiple Keywords

Use multiple keywords to receive more specific results on your first search engine results page (SERP).

2. Use Google Suggest

When you enter the first letters of a keyword into the search bar, Google will suggest popular keywords other people have used in their searches. Follow these suggestions and see whether they can help you gain better results.

3. Use Operators to Properly Connect Keywords

This is a whole article of its own and fortunately it has already been written. Please have a look at my article on Google Operators for an overview. You can use each of these “commands” to improve your search results. Here I will mention only the three most helpful ones.

Use Negative Keywords

If you’re seeing irrelevant results, identify a keyword that has nothing to do with what you’re looking for and make it your “negative keyword”. Simply add it to your search query with a minus symbol in front of it, for example if you were looking for the band Gossip, you would search for [gossip -celebrity] (without the brackets).

Use Quotes

This is most commonly used to find an exact match. Since Google already uses the AND operator to connect single keywords per default, you won’t need quotes to find exact matches in most cases.

However, if you find that Google returns results with highlighted keywords that are spelled completely different from what you entered, try to put these single words into quotes and try again. This will prevent Google from “finding” more popular keywords that are only vaguely similar to your search term.

Search Within a Specific Website

If you don’t want to search the entire internet, but instead a specific URL, this operator is of great help. Type [site:URL "your search query"], for example [site:http://wikipedia.org "brandenburg gate"].

4. Use Advanced Search

If you can’t be bothered with manually typing operators, you can use Google’s Advanced Search. It allows you to exclude words, search for results in a specific language or specific files, and search within a site or domain. As you enter the details, the search query is automatically composed for you.

5. Use Google Chrome With Quick Scroll

One of the most annoying parts of following a search result is finding the relevant part within the page that opens. The Google Chrome extension Quick Scroll helps you tackle this issue as it provides a quick way to scroll to the parts in that website that are relevant to your query.

We have profiled Quick Scroll in the MakeUseOf Directory.

In Firefox you could simply use Quick Find, i.e. “find in text as you type” to quickly find the keywords again.

6. Ditch Google

Google is the most popular search engine and as such it has a lot of power. Google naturally has full control over its search algorithm. This in turn has a great impact on what results you will see, i.e. those you actually want to see or those that Google wants you to see.

There are two major variables that determine which results are recognized as relevant for your search: Link Authority (a.k.a. PageRank) and Keyword Relevance. Keyword relevance is straight forward. How well do the keywords you entered match the result, how often do they appear throughout the website, are they included in links pointing to that site, etc? Actually, this is all that you’re looking for when using a search engine.

Google, however, is biased towards link authority. The number of links pointing to a certain page determines its “authority” or PageRank. The more, the better. Unfortunately, this means that keywords only remotely related to a high PageRank site may cause this site to appear on your SERP, no matter how relevant it really is. The advantage is that you’ll see a lot of results from reputable high impact pages like Wikipedia or MakeUseOf. On the other hand you may miss out on many more relevant results from smaller pages. That’s not necessarily what you want.

So what can you do? You cannot change Google’s algorithm. However, if you keep seeing irrelevant search results, no matter how well you tune your search, there is one more thing you can do to get better results: don’t use Google’s search engine in the first place.

Yahoo’s search engine, for example, is less biased towards link authority and will thus provide you with much better search results.

Tips For A Safe Online Experience

Using social networks and banking and shopping online have become part of our everyday lives. A generation of digital natives is living online – and offline – often without being aware of the dangers of the Internet. More than 400 million people worldwide are now on Facebook.

Children and teenagers are in particular danger of exposing personal data, such as private pictures, to the general public, and of revealing private information on social networks.

On the occasion of World Information Society Day, Kaspersky Lab provides 10 simple tips for a safe online experience.

* Keep Windows and third-party applications up-to-date.

* Back up your data regularly to a CD, DVD, or external USB drive.

* Don’t respond to email or social media messages if you don’t know the sender.

* Don’t click on email attachments or objects sent via social networks if you don’t know the sender.

* Don’t click on links in email or IM (instant messaging) messages. Type addresses directly into your web browser.

* Don’t give out personal information in response to an email, even if the email looks official.

* Shop or bank only on secure sites. These URLs start with ‘https://’ and you’ll find a gold padlock in the lower right-hand corner of your browser.

* Use a different password for each web site or service you use and make sure it consists of more than 5 characters and contains numerals, special characters and upper- and lower-case letters. Don’t recycle passwords (e.g. ‘jackie1’, ‘jackie2’) or make them easy to guess (e.g. mum’s name, pet’s name). Don’t tell anyone your passwords.

* Make sure you share your child’s online experience and install parental control software to block inappropriate content.

* Install Internet security software and keep it updated. While up-to-date protective software is essential for every Internet user, it is particularly important for those who spend a lot of time interacting with others via the Internet.

Skin Care – How To Get Rid Of Brown Spots

Changes in skin coloration are a normal part of the aging process. But many people find brown spots, also known as "liver spots" or "age spots", to be unattractive. These spots that often appear on the back of the hands are caused by sunlight exposure or chronic bruising of the skin.

If you have unwanted brown spots, dark spots or dark patches spreading on your face or other places, and you want them to vanish completely, giving your skin lasting clarity and beauty, then you'll want to treat your brown spots with our Miracle Cure.

Epilators like Silk Epil from Braun remove hair from the root, and so they are similar to waxing, as waxing also removes hair from the root. However, you may get more in-growths if you use these machines, so you should scrub your body with a pumice stone while bathing to counter this problem. You need to give more details about the brown spot. Is it a freckle or is it a mole? How big is the spot? If it is a mole, you should visit a dermatologist.

Prevention is the easy part—apply sunscreen to your hands, arms, face, and scalp (if not covered with hair) every day, whether you plan to go outside or not. You see, sun damage comes in two forms: UVA and UVB. Ultraviolet A rays are known as “aging rays”; UVA sunlight makes up 90-95% of all sunlight that reaches the earth’s surface. It penetrates windows of houses and cars; it gets through clouds; it’s present 365 days a year. Even more troublesome is the fact that UVA exposure is “silent”. You don’t get a tan or sunburn from UVA exposure. UVB rays, also called “burning rays,” cause tanning and burning of the skin, so you know when it’s happening. Enough said? So from this day forward, you’ll apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30?
A laser generates and intense beam of light. This beam brings energy to a specific site, through a small hand piece connected to the laser. The laser light is absorbed by oxyhemoglobin (bright red blood cells carrying oxygen) and melanin/pigment (black or brown pigment found in the skin) causing decomposition or destruction by heat of unwanted cells while leaving healthy cells intact.

Microdermabrasion is another way to remove brown spots. By gently abrading the skin with ultra-fine crystal particulates, microdermabrasion can reduce unwanted pigmentary changes and age spots. It can also benefit our acne patients.

The face, neck, chest and hands are the most popular areas to treat. A progressive series of 5-8 treatments are gently performed 2-4 weeks apart. Peels are often combined with microdermabrasion producing even better results.

Laser is the best way to remove moles. It is good that you have visited a doctor since moles can be the symptoms of other problems. Since that is not the case, simply get them removed through laser.

Sunscreen, protective clothing, and sunglasses help prevent further sun damage. Exposure time in the sun should be limited and seek shade when outdoors. Try to avoid outdoor activities between 10 am and 3 pm, when the ultraviolet rays are strongest. See a dermatologist yearly for a skin examination to check for any abnormal moles or skin cancer.

Difference

You don't actually have to take the quiz. Just read straight through, and you'll get the point, an awesome one. .....

Take this quiz:
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are
no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel, appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you. Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not
the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Ways To Meet MR Right

If hitting all the so-called single spots isn’t helping you find your dream match, rethink your routine with some out-of-the-box guy-meeting tactics.

1. Find your friends’ friends : Combine your love of online shopping with the best way to meet eligible men —through friends, recommends Rachel Greenwald, author of Why He Didn't Call You Back:1,000 Guys Reveal What They REALLY Thought About You After Your Date. Scroll through your friends’ friends on social networking sites like Twitter or Facebook and play a game Greenwald calls, “I Spy a Cute Guy.” Find someone intriguing who’s also single (check with your mutual friend if his profile is private)? Ask to be introduced. “Because Facebook isn’t an official online dating site, the pressure is off,” she says. “You can get to know each other first as friends and go from there.”

2. Brush up on current affairs : It’s a good idea to make info-gathering an everyday part of your life—and not to impress guys (even though it’s a fact that they like smart, well informed babes), but for your own IQ and confidence. Make news channels like Times Now, CNN or BBC your Internet home page, subscribe to political and news magazine that gives you each week’s news stories. You’ll be able to strike up a conversation in no time.

3. Twitter for love : Everyone seems to have been bitten by the Twitter bug. Now use Twitter for more than getting the lowdown of your friends’ lives. Send a tweet on Friday afternoon that you’re meeting friends at your favorite watering hole for an impromptu happy hour. Tell your followers to bring their friends. You’re bound to meet new people, and even if they’re not single, they might know someone to fix you up with later.”

4. Go Solo : It can feel odd to watch a movie by yourself or sit solo at a coffee shop, but many happily attached women know that spending some time by yourself is a surefire way to meet someone great, says Karrine Steffans, author of The Vixen Manual. So chill at a Barista with your laptop and a latte, take your dog for a long walk or treat yourself to lunch at an outdoor café—solo!

5. Say Yes More Often : It can be tempting to cancel on a party invite if you’re feeling pooped or dying to catch the new episode of your favourite show, but accepting an invite or two each month that you’d otherwise turn down can give your love life a life, says Brenda Della Casa, author of Cinderella Was A liar: The Real Reason You Cannot Find (Or Keep) A Prince. Asked out by a guy who doesn’t fit your dream definition? Just say yes!

6. Recycle the single guys you know : Everyone knows interesting guys who aren’t right for them (think your single best male pal, coworker or a former date who’s now just a friend) but who might be right for someone else. Go ahead and guy-cycle. Organize a low-key get-together and recycle those 'great-but-not-for-you' guys by inviting single women to the party. Set a one-single-guy minimum, encouraging female guests to bring at least one guy they’d recommend to other girls. Then watch the sparks fly!

7. Get sweaty: Local sports clubs let you get in shape by playing softball, swimming, karate, tennis or any other sport you enjoy, and they’re full of athletic, fun-loving guys.

8. Learn how his stomach thinks : The best place to meet guys is at a busy restaurant at lunch. So head out more often for that lunch break at a popular eatery as there is always a line of cute guys around the corner. Apart from a heart meal, men feel these are perfect places to strike up a conversation.

9. Make more female friends : The next time you walk into a party, don’t scan the room for handsome men only, but rather seek out the most social, outgoing woman you can find. Get to know her and invite her for coffee. Chances are, if you were drawn to her, she’ll have a lot of other friends—including male ones—who were drawn to the same qualities as you.

Lies Most Parents Tell Their Children

The average parent will tell their child about 3000 "white lies" during their childhood, according to a study in the United Kingdom. If that number actually sounds low to you, you're probably a parent. Parents lie to their kids for all sorts of reasons -- to protect them from the outside world, to keep them from harm, and to make themselves, or their kids, feel better. Some of the newer theories of parenting purport that telling your child any type of lie, small or otherwise, is bad. They advise telling young children the truth about Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy as early as possible. But how much fun is that, for kids and for parents?

1. There is a Santa Claus, but he'll only visit you if you're good.

The threat of Santa is enough to keep many kids' behavior in check all year long. Parents tell their children that they keep in contact with him throughout the year, so they better behave. This also applies to the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and other made-up characters we tell our kids are real. When our children find out we've been lying to them, it can be devastating. It might even make them question everything you've ever told them throughout their childhood. Or maybe that's just me.

2. This is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you.

How stupid of a statement is that, really, when you think about it? How could getting a shot at the doctor's office hurt you more than it hurts your child (physically, that is)? Sure, seeing your little one cry and get all upset over a shot, or being punished, having something taken away, can be emotionally gut-wrenching, but really, will it hurt you more than it hurts them?

3.Mommy and Daddy are taking a nap.

Only those who are parents will understand the double entendre behind this little white lie. Yes, Mommy and Daddy are in the bedroom, but no, they're not really sleeping. When the bedroom door is closed, most children have been told, don't come in without knocking. What goes on behind closed doors doesn't have to be shared with the young ins, right? Of course, as kids get older they usually figure out why Mommy and Daddy's bedroom door is closed. By that time, the "ick" factor keeps them from barging in.

4.If you tell me the truth, you won't get in trouble.

Almost every parent has probably told their child this lie. Yes, maybe telling the truth will get you in less trouble than if you don't tell the truth and it comes out later. But you're still getting in trouble, no matter what. When kids get old enough to figure this out, they become pretty consummate liars themselves.

5.Eating your vegetables will make you grow up big and strong

We tell our kids all sorts of untruths to get them to eat their vegetables, fruits, and nutritious stuff. One of the classics is that eating spinach (or other vegetables) will make you grow up to be a big, strong man (or woman). Vegetables can only go so far, however. Genetics are going to play a huge role in how big and strong you will really grow up to be. Luckily the kids don't know this, or we'd never get them to eat any healthy foods!

6.If you play with your privates too much, they'll drop off/you'll go blind.

Your parents want you to emulate the Seinfeld episode and become master of your own domain. Its not sure if this lie is as common now with parents as it was way back when, but most parents would prefer that their little ones not sit around "discovering" their privates in public. And most parents also don't want to risk walking in on Johnny playing with his Johnson in his bedroom. So this lie is most likely still in widespread use.

7.If you keep making that face, your face will stay that way.

"If you cross your eyes, they'll stay that way" is another lie related to this one. Parents use this one simply to get their kids to stop making wacky faces, or to get that surly, dejected look off their child's face. (Good luck with that one!) This is a lie that most savvy kids of this day and age probably won't believe.

8. Mommy and/or Daddy never took illegal drugs/drank underage/had premarital sex.

In an attempt to make sure your own kids don't make some of the same mistakes you made in your teenage/young adult years, you probably have told them a few untruths about things you did or did not do. No, of course we didn't have premarital sex, that's wrong. You should wait till you're married. We never did any illegal drugs when we were your age. I didn't drink alcohol until I was 21, and only in moderation after that. This category of lies may be the biggest and most popular lie that parents tell their children most often.

9.Sponge Bob's not on this week/the TV is broken/our cable is out.

Unfortunately, most kids are technically smart enough to figure out that this one's not true, no matter how often and how vehemently you tell them that. In an attempt to have some peace and quiet, you might tell your kids their favorite show was canceled or just isn't on television anymore, that the cable is out, or that the satellite dish is broken. Then, your little techie will volunteer to fix it, and voila, Sponge Bob once again rules the family room!

10.The stork brought you to us.

"Where do babies come from?" or, even more difficult, "Where did I come from?" is a common question that young, prepubescent children ask their parents. Parents choose to answer this in a variety of way. The straightforward, honest approach would probably be best, but many parents still rely on folklore and legend to explain this phenomenon to their offspring. Depending upon the age of the child, he or she probably won't buy the stork metaphor, but its sure there are countless other creative and untrue ways to explain the birth process to your child.

Objecting Wives

There were three friends that always wanted to play golf every Saturday afternoon, but couldn`t because of their wives objections.

So one day after many years they finally got together on the golf course and were waiting at the first tee when one guy said, "I had to buy my wife a diamond necklace to get to play today!!!"

The second said, "That`s nothing I had to buy MY wife a new sports car to get out here today!!!"

The third said, "Boy you guys are a couple of wimps; I didn`t have to buy my wife anything!!!"

They both looked at him and asked how he managed that!

The smartest of the three said, "It was easy, when I got up this morning I looked her straight in the eye and asked, "Golf course or Inte*cou*se?"

She threw me a sweater and said, "Take this, it might get chilly out there!"

Ways To Make Men Chase You

If you handle things right, you can always keep your guy running after you. Here's how...

Try to not be the one to make the first move. You may be an independent woman, but men like the chase. Also, he shouldn’t take you for granted. If you keep initiating social activities, eventually, you’ll be less of a girlfriend and more of a social life planner.

As the woman, you shouldn’t be overtly sexual at the beginning of the relationship. Keep body contact subtle, like a hand on the knee or touch on the elbow. No matter how ‘evolved’ and ‘modern’ you and your man are, sex is still a big step in any relationship. Also, don’t fall all over him all the time. Keep distance.

Doing little things to show that your guy is on the top of your mind, is a good idea. It could be surprising him by cooking his favorite meal. We don’t mean becoming his personal assistant - these have to be things you like doing for him. Or one fine day, you could do his laundry for him.

Tell him when he’s looking good, remark about how witty he is on a clever joke and always appreciate his good qualities. Help him prepare for a presentation, or dress up for an interview. Let him know about your knowledge of fashion and all things good in life by telling him what to wear or buy sometimes. The aim is to build a network of mutual trust.

Women always want to know where they stand in a relationship and what their future is. Men dread this kind of pressure. They’d rather just enjoy the moment. So don’t keep talking about how all your friends are married and how you want to have babies really fast. It might scare him off.

Secrets You Never Knew About Your Girl

The woman in your life may give you her heart, soul and, of course, her body, but still there's a part of her being that she'll never share with you ... stuff that makes her a mystery.

Yes, your woman is a den of mysteries hinted to you in her sly smile, enigmatic laughter or that sudden silence. She just pretends to be one, but is never an open book to you. Her deepest secrets are what add to her charm ... but render you an outsider in her own ‘Secret Garden'. Secrets of her unshared yearnings, cherished fantasies or for that matter, a secret lover from the past ...

Here's a peep into those hidden secrets ... dig into them at your own risk!

- I might just hate it when you sleep in that office shirt, but when you are away, I love to snuggle up in your shirt because it smells of you.

- Though I insist on paying the bill or sharing it in our initial dates, I'll find you cheap and so non-chivalrous in case you don't insist on making the payment.

- Long before we explored each others bodies, I had been fantasizing about being with you. That inhibition was only to get assured that you are all mine.

- I do think about my ex-es and compare them to you. Mostly you win, but you are not all perfect.

- ‘I don't care you call or not' is pure pretense. In fact, I start waiting for your next call the moment one ends. Not just this, I eagerly want you to plan our next date even before the current one ends. I might not show it. So, don't fret about looking desperate just call! The gap looks like a lifetime to me.

- During the initial days of our relationship, I used to save all our chat histories and your SMS's and read them again and again. Sometimes, made my friends read them, too.

- The day you shared your password with me, digging into your chat records and mails was the first thing I did.

- I would love to know what turns you on. Though, I know it's going to be hilarious as I've seen your frequently-visited p*rn sites.

- You don't have to be a ‘good boy' with me all the time. I don't mind talking a little dirty.

- You are my soul mate, but my ‘best friend' is my confidante. From the size of your pay cheque, bank account to the size of your other assets...she knows it all. So, till you are telling her how much you love me all's fine. Remember she's my best friend and never yours.

- You rightly blame me for bombarding you with so many questions. But, that's my way of testing you. I judge and analyze you on every word, expression, action, e-mail or SMS you write to me or someone else. So, when I ask “Do you fantasize about other women?,” the answer has to be “Why would I when I am with you?” So, better watch out!

- I love to make you a little jealous as it makes me feel wanted. So the next time you spot me flirting with your friend, know that I'm actually flirting with you through her.

- Every time I fight with you is because I feel ignored. Don't get into your cocoon when I'm bad. Just give me what I'm fighting for – a little attention and I'll be all yours.

- I love to get constant reminders of the much known fact that – you need me. So, what's the harm in dropping liners saying ‘You complete me' or ‘Don't ever leave me alone' ... ?

- Last but not the least, irrespective of how independent and self-driven I am, how ever much I may say that I don't need a man to be happy, but still I want you to take charge when we are in bed.

Body Wisdom to Combat Body Odour

Every region of the human body has a different odor; sometimes the odor is so distinctive so as to allow immediate identification of its origin . For instance, underarm and feet odors are easily recognized .

Recent medical research has shown that people with body odor are prone to less confidence levels which ultimately affect their personal and social relationships.

Feelings of shame, embarrassment, low self-esteem, isolation, frustration, anxiety and depression are extremely common where Body odor is present. Body odor refers to the unpleasant smell that is emitted by the body. The smell results from the presence of bacteria on the body.

The most common body parts that are associated with body odor include hair, feet, groin, skin, armpits, genitals, pubic hair, belly button and ears. Though sweating is seen as the most common reason for body odor, there are other reasons as well, due to which your body may emit a foul smell.

Sweat is not caused only by outside heat; it can also be caused by nervousness, sudden anxiety, unease, apprehension or fear. Perspiration, or sweat, is body's way of cooling itself, whether that extra heat comes from hardworking muscles or from over-stimulated nerves. Body odor is primarily generated in the area under the arms where there is a high concentration of sweat glands.

Seven simple home remedies to kill body odor.

Wash yourself: Take bath twice a day and always wash your self with soap and water, particularly areas that are likely to smell, such as the armpits and genital areas and the mouth. A few drops of rose water or tea tree oil added to the bath, will give long lasting freshness.

Use an Antiperspirant: Antiperspirants leave chemicals on the skin that kills the bacteria that causes body odor.

Kitchen comes to rescue: Applying baking soda, apple cider vinegar, white vinegar, alcohol, lime or ashes, tomatoes, which are readily available at home, can also help reduce perspiration.

Eat healthy: What you eat is directly related to your body odor, so eat healthy and avoid processed foods and too much red meat. Frequent consumption of garlic can be the cause of foul smell, avoid alcohol and tobacco – this worsens your problem. According to medical experts, extracts of proteins and oils from certain foods and spices remain in your body’s excretions for hours after eating them and can also impart on your body odor. Drink lots of water and fresh vegetable juices to reduce sweating and hydrate the body. Drink a glass of water in the morning, on an empty stomach, along with 500mg of wheat grass. The chlorophyll present in the grass will help in reducing odor.

Cotton is the answer: Make it a habit of wearing fabrics such as cotton rather than synthetic materials. Cotton fabrics allow air to pass through it. So it reduces sweating and the odor associated with it. Choose your colors carefully; the color black is known to produce heat which can make you sweat profusely. You can wear other cool colors like blue and white. You should avoid repeating your clothes without washing them and make it a point to wash the parts under the armpits thoroughly.

Waxing: The underarms tend to accumulate more sweat, removing hair by waxing or shaving helps prevent sweat rings.

Keep Calm: Keeping calm can also do the trick. Getting excited, feeling anxious or nervous make you perspire a lot. If you know you will go through these emotions, you have to use an extra dose of the antiperspirant in the morning.

• Lawyer
Significant Achievements
Secretary Teodoro was named by
former Senator Vicente Paterno,
vice chairman of the Bishops-
Businessmen’s Conference
(BBC), as one of the most honest
government officials along with
DSWD Secretary Esperanza
Cabral.
He topped the 1989 bar
examinations and is a member
of the State Bar of New York.
Major Positions on Development and Reform Agenda and Other
Major Advocacies
Secretary Teodoro wanted to claim the 3,100-hectare land in
Laur, Nueva Ecija for Mt. Pinatubo victims so that they would
be able to live and cultivate the area. CARP eventually awarded
this land to farmers through the Certificate of Land Ownership
Awards (CLOA).
He advocates for anti-terrorism laws, civil rights protection,
governance and economic development, but has no known
position on the environment.
He joined last-ditch efforts of former Speaker Jose de Venecia
and his allies at the House to amend the 1987 Constitution a
few months before the 2007 mid-term elections. His staff
said that Teodoro came in only when de Venecia opened the
possibility of amending the Constitution by calling a referendum
to get the people’s pulse, or through the election of delegates
to a Constitutional Convention simultaneous with the May 14
elections.
Secretary Teodoro is also known for supporting the impeachment
complaint against former Chief Justice Hilario Davide, Jr. in 2003
on charges of corruption for misusing the Judicial Development
Fund.
He is also closely identified with his uncle, former Marcos crony
and business tycoon Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr., such
that his political choices are not seen by many as independent.
He has defended the policies and actions of President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo.
When asked why he buckled down when pressured regarding
his position on the RH bill, he said that “for any policy, you have
to work with a consensus. You cannot implement a law that has
massive opposition.”
On the concerns of the AFP, he said that two things must be
built: culture of competence and culture of discipline. He said
“you cannot have discipline if you do not have competence. It
works both ways.” Also, he said that we need to address the
material needs of the armed forces because it is not currently
addressed by the modernization budget.
On his opinion on the Sangguniang Kabataan, he said that there
must be a transition from the SK to regular politics. He proposes
a reduction of the age to elect councilors to 18. He recognizes
that there are benefits to SK, like being taught leadership and
principles of governance but it also has problems like the nature
of the political contest and how some SK Chairs are elected. “We
have to streamline the organization to cure its ills” said Teodoro.
If made to choose one important sector, he said he would
choose agriculture because “our food security is an important
aspect of our economy that must not be forgotten.”
He is in favor of giving the late President Ferdinand Marcos full
state honors and allowing him to be buried at the Libingan ng
mga Bayani. According to him, the late president deserves such
rites as a former soldier who fought for the country during the
World War II and added that Marcos has not been convicted by
any competent court and is therefore presumed innocent of all
the accusations (The Philippine Star, Feb. 21, 2010).

On The Wings of A Butterfly

Your friendship is special
Like the flowers that bloom,
Or when a butterfly emerges
From within its cocoon...

You remind me of that butterfly,
Loving and free,
Bright and colorful,
For the world to see...

We will share sunshine and rainbows;
Sometimes, the rain and the snow;
We'll stand together through it,
While the cold winds blow...

When the time is right,
We won't stop to ask "Why?"
Our friendship will take flight
On the wings of a butterfly ...

The Influence Of Gossip

I cannot afford to overlook the influence that other people have on me.

To what extent do I check that I am not being influenced by gossip?

Negativity in the mind is like poison.

Negative thoughts are the seeds of negative actions.

Gossip and guessing bring sorrow, heaviness and distrust.

The Taste of Life

An experienced & wise master grew tired of his apprentice complaining. One morning he sent the apprentice for some salt.

When the apprentice returned, the master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and drink it.

"How does it taste?" the master asked.

"Bitter," spit the apprentice.

The master chuckled and then asked the young man to put a handful of Salt in the lake nearby.

The two walked to the nearby lake. After the apprentice swirled his

Handful of salt into the water, the old man said, "Now drink from the lake...”

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the master asked, "Now How does this taste?"

"Fresh & Sweet" remarked the apprentice.

"Do you taste the salt?" asked the master.

"No," said the young man.

At this, the master sat beside the young man who so reminded him of Himself at one time and held his hands.

He told the young man, "The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less.

The amount of pain in life remains exactly the same. However, the amount of bitterness we taste depends on the container we put the pain in.

So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things . . .

"Stop being a glass. Become a lake."

Useful Expressions for those High Stressdays

Well, aren't we just a ray of fucking sunshine?
Not the brightest crayon in the box now, are we?
Do I look like a fucking people person?
This isn't an office. It's Hell with fluorescent lighting.
I pretend to work. They pretend to pay me.
You! Off my planet!!
Practice random acts of intelligence & senseless acts of self-control.
I like cats too. Let's exchange recipes.
Did the aliens forget to remove your anal probe?
And your crybaby whiny-assed opinion would be...?
How many times do I have to flush before you go away?
Aw, did I step on your poor little bitty ego ?
How do I set a laser printer to stun?
I'm not tense, just terribly, terribly alert.
When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.
Earth is full, Go home.
